The 2014 Fort Massac Grand Encampment has now come and gone for another year. The weather was unbelievably wonderful! I spent some quality time with my living history friends and family and made some new friends along the way. The 2014 Fort Massac Grand Encampment photo gallery is posted. Hope you enjoy the pictures!
I was very blessed to have been able to do a book signing for my new book Shadows In The Forest: Woodland Warriors of the Mississippi Valley. I am pleased to announce that in just two months time, the first print run is a complete sell out. No worries if you have not purchased your copy yet. I will be doing a second printing very soon.
Rumor has it that the state of Illinois intends to have the fort fixed/rebuilt and open for next year’s Grand Encampment. Let’s all cross our fingers and hope for the best. There are record crowds, both participants and visitors, each passing year and the reopening of the fort will only keep that trend moving forward.
It was a pleasure getting to see my reenacting family again and equally a pleasure to meet many new friends. Unless you have experienced living history first hand, you cannot understand the bond fellow reenactors have. We are all one big family in it for the same reason and that is to keep history alive.
